Chinese Cultural Enrichment
ICS provides the following cultural enrichment classes this summer. Each culture subject will be covered in a week with a student presentation on each Friday.
小小劇場(Children’s Theater):
Students will learn how to create a script from a popular children’s book. They will also learn how to act, create and decorate backdrop, and perform a complete children’s drama on the last day of this program.
中國民族舞蹈 (Chinese Folk Dances):
This class will introduce various Chinese Folk Dances by showing the films or personal demonstration. Students will learn how to conduct Chinese folk dance and also learn the customs of different styles of folk dance.
主播天地(Anchor and Journalist):
This class focuses on verbal communication and writing. Students will learn how to be an anchor, reporter, and journalist. A field trip to local Chinese Television may be arranged based upon the total enrollment of students.
中華棋藝 (Chinese Board Games):
Student will learn how to play Chinese Chess (象棋), Go Game (圍棋), Gomoku (五子棋), and Chinese Checkers (跳棋). A Chinese Board Game Contest will be held, participating students will get awards from playing the games.
中國偶戲 (Chinese Puppet Drama):
In this class, students will have a chance to learn the history of Chinese puppet, different types of Chinese puppet, how to make Chinese puppets and how to perform the puppet show.
串珠編結摺紙之美 (The Art of Chinese Beating, Knotting, and Paper Craft):
Students will learn the history and techniques of the traditional Chinese Arts in beating, knotting, and paper craft which including paper folding and cutting. Students will also be able to do a presentation to explain their art work.
